Robert M. Hagood, MD, FACS

Robert M. Hagood, MD, FACS Dr. Robert Hagood is a board certified general surgeon practicing at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. He has been named one of the top Doctors in Dallas by DMagazine for the past 10 years. He attended the University of Virginia for his undergraduate education and graduated with distinction. He attended Emory University of medical school and graduated Magna Cum Laude. He then underwent his surgical training at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He completed his residency in 2003 and joined Texas Health Surgical Care the same year. He has been elected to the Medical Board of Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas a Member at Large for 2010-2011 and as the Secretary of the Medical Staff in 2012, a position he still holds.

He performs most types of general surgical procedures including laparoscopic and robotic surgery for gallbladder removal and hernia repair. His special interests include hernia repair and complicated abdominal wall reconstruction. Dr. Hagood works diligently to make sure that patients receive timely appointments as well as a complete understanding of their condition, and their treatment options. He takes great pride in the efficient and courteous office staff of Texas Health Surgical Care that helps him achieve a great patient experience. Dr. Hagood feels that the patients primary care physician should be included in the preoperative and postoperative phases and uses Texas Health Surgical Care’s electronic medical record as well as personal calls to achieve this.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also involved in multiple medical societies including the American Hernia Society, International Hernia Collaboration, Dallas County Medical Society, and the Parkland Surgical Society.

Dr. Hagood lives in Dallas with his wife and 2 children. He enjoys many activities including golf, cooking, waterskiing, cycling, fishing, running and is currently training for a sprint triathalon.
